I went out this last weekend with a friend of mine, Elliot. He has a BMW 1200s which dwarfs my GSX650f. I knew i’d have to work him over in the corners and quick accelerations :-D ; just kidding.

Like me, he is fairly new to riding. Safety class and lot of commuting.

And, like everyone else I know, he has been listening to me continually talk about some of the great rides I’ve been on. That is to say, the rides which are a bit twistier :-)

I got more info in my rides section and you can get to more via the links pages (good routes, roads, reviews) if you wish.

Anyway, i took him out to introduce him to my too old and slow knee dragging route (no, i don’t actually drag the knee…yet).

We went out 18, along the Green Valley the detour to Enumclaw, etc.

What a great day, sunny and warm. I was in shorts under my riding pants (safety first) and we just motored for a while.

Once on Green Valley you gotta pay attention. the road is narrow with very short straights, so if you get stuck behind someone, you’ll end up hitting all the great corners at walking pace. It’s one of those roads where you can either just cruise, which is really great, nice scenery smooth and gentle…or…..you work it; throttle up, down, brake, turn in, throttle, rinse and repeat…

It’s all over the place; fantastic.

I then took him on some roads that allow you to get to know what your gas tank feels like under your chest; Everything shakes and your focus is absolute. It better be.

The cherry on top is the twisty section just outside of Eatonville. I shared my insider information about how to go about attacking it; again, to keep from either being stuck behind granny (and all cars are granny on this road) or dumping the bike by being caught out.

Not that I am some motorcycle instructor quality rider, but having some experience to share is more information, so it’s all good as they say.

Anyway, this post is more about going out and sharing your routes and knowledge with others. I’ve read and ridden some roads that my friends might not have. By getting together you may find some fantastic gems.

I would love for people reading this post to share their rides/routes with m. I really want to know first hand accounts, advice, etc, so please don’t be shy.

So, get out there are ride, take someone new and give them a leg up and be sure to give me all your secrets
