So, I went out for two rides on my motorcycle yesterday, which was really a great thing to be able to do. The morning was a bit chilly and so I ended up cutting things a little short.

The route was out Hwy18 to SE Green Valley, into Enumclaw and into Orting, where I had to get out of the cold and get a coffee. Safeway Starbucks, not as toasty as I wanted, but it worked. From there, I just headed out to 410 and back home up 512.

In the afternoon (later afternoon) I “had” to get out and push myself a little bit, so I went out 161 to Eatonville and ran around out to Mtn Hwy (7) and went through the twisties twice (two laps for 4 total trips. I almost had the road to myself, which was really great. I had a great time laying the bike over and over more. I need to ride with others though to find out how I am doing relatively speaking in terms of how quickly I am getting round the bends.

I saw a small pack of sporty bikes doing the same thing; both directions :-)

On the way back in I got to see some new numbers on my speedo…”shh….”

From there, I finally went on the eatonville cutoff route which was new for me. Some nice farmland and sweeping turns. It plopped my out on 161 which worked out great as that takes me back in.

Not much to say really, just back in with traffic to my usual route home.

Then there came a choice, head up Waller to 128th or stay on Brookdale. Well, some slow looking car took the hill and I just didn’t want to see those great corners go by at 20 mph, so I stayed straight on Brookdale.

Car in front of me was cruising fine and I was just relaxing and trying to stay focussed (most accidents and all that). Then there were people on the opposite side of the road kind of running and the car in front of me slowed suddenly. Directly in front of me were two goats scurring across the road while one was trying to copulate with the other. Hard on the brakes both skidding due to some gravel maybe kicked up by the car…

…and then I hit a goat.

right in the haunches. My right foot went down hard, I know that because it hurt for a while after that, but I did not go down. The goats kept going so I did too.

Not sure how that would be reported. Uninsured livestock?

Anyway, not the kind of thing I’d think I’d be reporting.

So, got any animal tales?
